10 hospitalized in Fairfax, Virginia Greyhound bus crash

One victim battling life-threatening injuries

A Greyhound bus crash in Lorton, Virginia sent 10 people to the hospital this morning. The accident occurred on the northbound lane of Route 123/Ox Road and Hooes Road in Fairfax County.

Reports indicate the Greyhound passenger bus and a truck collided sometime after the morning rush hour. 10 people were taken to the hospital, one with life threatening injuries. Authorities have yet to announce the cause of the accident.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families as they receive medical treatment for their injuries. As a law firm regularly representing victims of auto and bus accidents, The Cochran Firm, D.C. is all too familiar with the consequences accidents like these can have on victims and their families.

Greyhound bus accidents

This accident is just the latest in a series of catastrophic accidents involving Greyhound buses. In February 2016, two people were killed after the Greyhound bus they were riding on rolled over, ejecting the passengers through a window.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the National Traffic Safety Bureau. 13 other passengers, including the driver, were severely injured in the crash. Investigators ruled out intoxication and mechanical failure in the crash. Reports indicate the driver may have been fatigued after admitting to drinking coffee because he felt tired.

Greyhound accident lawsuits

Earlier this month, five passengers harmed in a 2013 Greyhound accident in Ohio reached a $6 million settlement with the bus company. State police reported that driver also admitted to drinking coffee before the crash due to fatigue.

The lawsuit alleged the driver fell asleep behind the wheel before the bus rolled off I-75 and into a corn field. More than 30 people were injured in the crash.
