Have You Been Injured by Fuel Baron OZOfire SUREFIRE Gel Fuel?

Experienced Washington, DC, Virginia, Maryland gel fuel lawyer

Gel fuel products manufactured by Stateline, Nev.-based Fuel Barons Inc. are subject to a nationwide recall due to dangerous fire and burn risks. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that the company’s OZOfire Pourable Gel Fuel (Formula 4) and SUREFIRE Pourable Gel Fuel may ignite suddenly and splatter onto people and objects nearby when the gel fuel is poured into an already-burning firepot. The experienced personal injury attorneys of The Cochran Firm, D.C. are actively investigating legal claims related to dangerous gel fuel and firepot products.

The gel fuel can ignite and poses serious fire and burn risks to Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia consumers that can even be fatal. About 14,000 jugs and bottles of Fuel Baron’s gel fuel products are subject to the recall. It’s often difficult to tell whether a firepot is still burning, especially during daylight hours, which makes Fuel Baron’s gel fuel products particularly dangerous. Fuel Baron reported one incident the CPSC where a man sustained second-degree burns to his hand and wrist from using a gel fuel product.

Fuel Baron’s gel fuel products are sold in one-quart and one-gallon plastic bottles and jugs. The following gel fuel products are subject to the recall:

  • 1 quart OZOfire F4 Pourable Gel Fuel
  • 1 quart SUREFIRE S4 Pourable Gel Fuel
  • 1 gallon OZOfire F4 Pourable Gel Fuel

Fuel Baron’s products were sold online through WindFlame.com in addition to other online retailers from January 2010 until August 2011 for prices ranging from $8.50 to $22. The CPSC advises consumers to stop using Fuel Baron’s gel fuel products immediately and dispose of them according to local regulations.
