Lamplight Farms recalled its Tiki Gel Fuel products after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission stated the product can unexpectedly ignite and explode. Lamplight Farms Tiki Gel Fuel products pose a dangerous risk of fire and burns to consumers in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia that can be fatal. The Cochran Firm, D.C. is actively investigating injury claims related to dangerous fireport products.
About 217,000 bottles and jugs are affected by the product recall, which was originally announced in 2011. The Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based Lamplight Farm’s Tiki Gel Fuel product can explode without warning and seriously burn nearby persons and ignite objects in the vicinity.
The CPSC has warned the public that it is illegal to resell or attempt to resell Lamplight Farms Tiki Gel Fuel products. Lamplight Farms has reported one incident to the CPSC where a consumer poured gel fuel on an already-burning fire pot, which caused burns to a bystander’s arm that required medical attention.
The recalled Lamplight Farms gel fuel products were sold in one-quart bottles at retail stores nationwide and online retailers for about $10 from December 2010 through September 2011. The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using these products.
