JaJuan Dawson drowns after falling overboard of boat

drowning lawsuit lawyer Washington DC Virginia MarylandOn July 13, former NFL wide receiver JaJuan Dawson was pronounced dead after divers recovered his body 300 yards from where he fell off an inner tube during a family outing. He is survived by his wife and three small children. Dawson was 37 years old when he tragically drowned.

Dawson fell overboard and his body was recovered the next day after divers found him in 47 feet under water. Dawson was being towed in an inner tube behind the rented boat when he fell off. Dawson was not wearing a life jacket and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

Heavy rains had raised the water level at Lavon Lake in Collins County, Texas. Visitors to the lake were warned debris brought in from the flooding could be lurking under the surface. While a cause of death has not been released, Dawson may have been rendered unconscious after striking debris under the surface of the water. According to sources, his family is unsure if he was able to swim.

Dawson was a third round draft choice by the Cleveland Browns in the 2000 draft. He played three seasons, two with the Browns and one with the Houston Texans. Dawson played his college football at Tulane University and was part of the 1998 team that went undefeated.
